Days 1-2 – Fly to Beijing
Fly overnight to Beijing, China’s historic capital. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy free time to begin exploring this fascinating city.
Day 3 – Great Wall & Summer Palace
Visit China’s most iconic landmark, the Great Wall, and enjoy time to walk along this extraordinary feat of engineering. Later, visit a jade workshop before exploring the beautiful gardens, lakes and pavilions of the Summer Palace.
Day 4 – Beijing’s Imperial Treasures
Discover Tiananmen Square and the magnificent Forbidden City, once home to China’s emperors. Later, wander through Beijing’s traditional hutongs for an insight into local life before enjoying a traditional Peking duck dinner.
Day 5 – Beijing to Xian
Travel by high-speed bullet train to Xian, the ancient starting point of the Silk Road. Explore the lively Muslim Quarter and, this evening, enjoy a traditional dumpling banquet accompanied by a Tang Dynasty cultural performance.
Day 6 – Terracotta Army & Ancient City Walls
Visit the world-famous Terracotta Army and learn about the legacy of China’s first emperor. Later, walk along Xian’s ancient city walls and round off the day with a tasting at a local brewery.
Day 7 – Fly to Zhangjiajie
Fly to Zhangjiajie, a spectacular landscape of towering sandstone pillars, lush forests and mist-shrouded peaks that inspired the scenery in the film Avatar.
Day 8 – Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
Ascend by the remarkable Bailong Glass Elevator and take in breathtaking views of Hallelujah Mountain and the First Bridge Under Heaven. Continue to Emperor Mountain, Helong Park and Jinbian Stream.
Day 9 – Tianmen Mountain
Ride the world’s longest cable car to the summit of Tianmen Mountain. Marvel at the famous Tianmen Cave, known as Heaven’s Door, and experience the thrilling glass skywalk suspended high above the landscape.
Day 10 – Yichang & Yangtze River Cruise
Travel to Yichang and board your Yangtze River cruise vessel, your home for the next four nights.
Days 11-13 – Yangtze River Cruise
Cruise through some of China’s most spectacular scenery, including the famous Three Gorges. Visit the impressive Three Gorges Dam, enjoy shore excursions and explore beautiful tributaries such as Shennong Stream or Goddess Stream.
Day 14 – Chongqing & Giant Pandas
Disembark in the dynamic city of Chongqing. Visit one of China’s most beloved residents, the Giant Panda, before relaxing at a local hot spring resort or exploring the bustling Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street.
Day 15 – Dazu Rock Carvings
Travel to Dazu to discover the UNESCO-listed Dazu Rock Carvings, one of China’s finest collections of Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian rock art. This evening, witness the spectacular drone show lighting up Chongqing’s skyline.
Day 16 – Discover Chongqing
Explore the historic streets of Ciqikou Ancient Town and visit the famous Liziba Intersection, where trains pass through a residential building. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner followed by a scenic river cruise showcasing Chongqing’s dazzling illuminated skyline and Hongya Cave.
Day 17 – Fly Home
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK, arriving home the same day or the following day.
